For the most daring Hans Brinker campaign yet, we shunned the ads and posters that worked so well in the past in favor of a travel book that our audience would actually have to pay for. The book — still a best-seller found in travel sections of bookstores all around the world — turned out to be a PR machine that resulted in international news coverage for a ratty hostel in Amsterdam. Perhaps the greatest irony is that the book costs more than a room at the hotel.
